Honesty, integrity & experience

Staining your deck is a great way to enhance its beauty, protect the wood, and extend its life. Decks endure a lot of wear and tear from weather and daily use, so applying a quality stain is essential to keep them looking fresh and resilient.

The process begins with preparing the surface, which means cleaning the deck thoroughly to remove dirt, mold, and old finishes. Power washing can be highly effective but needs to be done carefully to avoid damaging the wood. After cleaning, the deck should dry completely before applying any stain—usually a full 24 to 48 hours, depending on the weather.

Choosing the right stain is key. Transparent stains allow the natural wood grain to shine through, while semi-transparent stains offer a bit more color and protection. Solid stains provide a more opaque finish and are excellent for decks that need stronger coverage. Staining should ideally be done in dry, mild weather for the best results. Applying an even coat with a brush or roller ensures thorough coverage and a beautiful finish. By staining your deck, you’re investing in its durability and appearance, helping to keep it a welcoming outdoor space for years to come.
